<div style="line-height:1.7;color:#000000;font-size:14px;font-family:Arial"><div><span style="line-height: 1.7;">IEEE CNS 2016-Travel Grants</span></div><div><br></div><div>IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security</div><div>Philadelphia, PA USA</div><div>17-19 October 2016</div><div>http://cns2016.ieee-cns.org/</div><div> </div><div>IEEE CNS 2016, along with NSF, ARO, IEEE, and other sponsors, would like to encourage student participation at the </div><div><br></div><div>conference. With the support of NSF and ARO, CNS 2016 will be able to partially support the travel, accommodation, </div><div><br></div><div>and registration costs of student registrants who might otherwise be unable to attend the conference.</div><div><br></div><div>All eligible applications will be considered, especially female and under-represented minority students. We also </div><div><br></div><div>encourage those who do not have a paper in the conference, but wish to attend, to submit a travel grant application. </div><div><br></div><div>We anticipate funding approximately 20-25 students at a rate of $800-$1,000 per student. The number and amount of </div><div><br></div><div>awards will be determined based on the available funding and the applications received.</div><div> </div><div>Type of Grants</div><div><br></div><div>The IEEE CNS 2016 conference is pleased to announce the availability of the following types of student travel grants </div><div><br></div><div>(students are eligible to apply to both types):</div><div> </div><div>A.   NSF and ARO travel grant opportunity for US-based students and junior researchers</div><div><br></div><div>B.   Travel grants sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society for students only.</div><div> </div><div>Eligibility Requirements</div><div><br></div><div>Following the application guidelines below, a student or junior researcher may apply to one or both categories for </div><div><br></div><div>which she/he is eligible. The eligibility criteria for each category are:</div><div> </div><div>A.   These student travel grants are sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation and Army Research Office. To </div><div><br></div><div>qualify, a student must be a graduate student studying in an accredited U.S. institution at the time of attending CNS </div><div><br></div><div>2016. Student recipients must submit valid receipts for reimbursement after the conference. Only airfare on a US-</div><div><br></div><div>based carrier will be reimbursed by this type of support.</div><div> </div><div>B.   These student travel grants are sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society. Applications are invited from </div><div><br></div><div>qualified full-time graduate students. To qualify, a student must (i) be an author of an accepted conference paper </div><div><br></div><div>and presents the paper at the conference; (ii) be a valid Student Member of the COMSOC at the time of application; </div><div><br></div><div>(iii) be a full-time student registered toward a Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. degree in engineering or related field </div><div><br></div><div>in a college or university when submitting the application; (iv) applicant may not receive more than one IEEE ComSoc </div><div><br></div><div>STG in any 12-month period.</div><div> </div><div>C. This year, we will have limited support for junior researchers (postdoctoral researchers and junior faculty). A </div><div><br></div><div>junior researcher applying for the travel grant has to be affiliated with an accredited U.S. institution at the time </div><div><br></div><div>of attending CNS 2016. Junior researcher travel is sponsored by the Army Research Office.</div><div><br></div><div>Application Materials</div><div><br></div><div>Applicants should create their application as a single PDF file, following the format described below. Direct links </div><div><br></div><div>to the submission (based on the eligibility criteria above) on the following links:</div><div> </div><div>A. NSF and ARO for students: https://edas.info/G.php?g=521</div><div> </div><div>B. IEEE ComSoc:  https://edas.info/G.php?g=521</div><div> </div><div>C. ARO for junior faculty: https://edas.info/G.php?g=522</div><div> </div><div>An application for a travel grant will consist of:</div><div>A request letter from the student or applicant (see below).</div><div>CV of the applicant.</div><div>A supporting letter from the graduate advisor (for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers only; junior </div><div><br></div><div>faculty do not need to provide a supporting letter).</div><div>Expected expenses (broken down as registration, travel, and lodging). It is anticipated that travel grants will </div><div><br></div><div>partially cover these overall costs.</div><div>Incomplete applications will not be considered.</div><div><br></div><div>The request letter from the student should include the following information:</div><div>Name</div><div>Affiliation</div><div>Address</div><div>Type
