<h3>About IWPE’25</h3>
<p>Reports of global surveillance, massive data breaches, and privacy-related harms have intensified the need for robust privacy protections. While current laws and standards worldwide aim to safeguard personal data, these frameworks alone cannot guarantee that organizations and developers will adopt effective privacy engineering practices in their daily workflows. Moreover, assessing whether deployed systems truly meet legal requirements and user expectations remains a challenge.</p>
<p>Against this backdrop, privacy engineering has emerged as a vital research area. Engineers are increasingly expected to design and maintain privacy-preserving, data protection-compliant systems across domains such as health, energy, transportation, and more. However, there is still a shortage of concrete models, methods, and tools to guide them. IWPE addresses this need by covering all aspects of privacy engineering—from theoretical foundations and engineering approaches to practical implementations at various scales. In particular, we encourage submissions of technical papers with novel methodologies or protocols, experience and practice reports, early evaluations of privacy-supportive tools, interdisciplinary or critical reviews, and vision papers presenting clear, evidence-based stances on emerging privacy challenges.</p>
